MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM — (Marketwire) — 01/01/12 — Up and coming American actress, Rooney Mara, rides a stunning vintage motorbike in the gritty new drama The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo – much to the delight of Swinton Bikes, the UK-s leading provider of .
Mara plays Lisbeth Salander, an introverted and strong-willed computer hacker with a troubled past, who teams up with journalist, Mikael Blomkvist, played by Daniel Craig, to solve a 36-year-old murder mystery.
The bike that Lisbeth uses to tear through the streets of Stockholm is a 1960-s Honda CB350 Cafe Racer, three of which were rebuilt for the film by Justin Kell of Glory Motor Works, Los Angeles.
According to Swinton Bikes, cafe racers were popular within the British counterculture group -the Rockers- during the 1960-s, when they needed a fast, yet distinctive bike to race between roadside cafes in and around UK towns and cities.
Antony Aronin, Head of Swinton Bikes, said: “It-s fantastic to see a classic symbol of 60-s Britain being featured in a high profile movie such as this. It must have been a huge thrill for the leading lady, speeding through Swedish streets on a vintage bike – I just hope she had the correct , to cover her during those all important takes.”
