MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM — (Marketwire) — 07/25/11 — Safeguard UK is warning motorhome owners to ensure they have the correct insurance for their vehicle as the Continuous Insurance Enforcement law comes into effect.
Safeguard UK, a provider of is warning motorhome owners that keeping an uninsured motor vehicle is now illegal unless it is declared as being -off the road.- This includes vehicles that are kept unused on a driveway or locked away in a garage. Previously motorists were only charged with the offence if they were actually caught driving an uninsured vehicle.
Motorists who do not declare their vehicle as -off the road- by getting a Statutory off the Road Notification (SORN) can expect a fine and a court summons. The vehicle in question could also be seized and crushed if adequate insurance is not purchased.
Rita Sadler, Safeguard Manager said, “Some motorhome users may let their insurance lapse, especially over the winter months when it is less likely to be used, however, unless you declare your vehicle as being -off the road- you may be liable to pay a fine, appear in court or have your vehicle seized and crushed. A motorhome is there to be used and enjoyed, and not left unused on your driveway so now is a great time to get your motorhome insurance sorted out.”
