LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — (Marketwire) — 10/24/11 — clipDO have created a new service that uses a browser button called a bookmarklet to launch this month. The product will allow users to -clip- news articles and other text found on the web and send that text directly to their Kindle e-reader all with one click. clipDO offers both Kindle and soon tablet users a new and simple way to access the news and other information online.
The service will appeal to those who are too busy to read during the day but like to catch up on articles during their commute; as well as allowing people to carry on reading during moments of downtime. This web clipping service is also perfect for users who like to read their own selection of articles from numerous and diverse sources rather than committing to a subscription to one news source. clipDO will enable easy sharing as articles can be recommended and reading lists swapped amongst Kindle and tablet users. Users can keep a scrapbook of all the articles they have clipped so pieces of information, useful bits of research or humorous stories can be stored for use at a later date.
It is clipDO-s intention that this service remains a free service with advertising providing the revenue stream. This is the first time that advertising will be seen on the Kindle in the UK and as sponsors Hiscox will have presence on all clipped articles. Insurance providers Hiscox, who offer their customers a wide range of specialist insurance products including , have always been innovative with their marketing campaigns; winning the online advertising award at the Innovation Awards last year. With this new venture it seems their projects this year are going to be just as interesting.
Simon Wood, Online Marketing Manager at Hiscox, comments: “Hiscox has been building a direct brand in the UK for the last ten years. Our experience in the market has built an excellent understanding of our customers and how to engage with them effectively. More recently we have accelerated our online presence with innovative advertising campaigns such as our partnership with clipDO. This partnership has given us the opportunity to target audiences who are on the move on the increasingly popular Kindle platform.”
