ALPHARETTA, GA — (Marketwire) — 12/15/11 — EndoChoice, Inc. announced today it has filed a Complaint against Austin Medical, Inc., AVID Medical, Inc., and Cygnus Medical LLC, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, alleging that each defendant makes and/or sells a scope transport pad that infringes EndoChoice-s U.S. Patent No. 8,042,688 (the -688 patent). The -688 patent was issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 2011 and covers EndoChoice-s innovative Cinchpad® product.
In its Complaint, EndoChoice alleges the Scope Transport Pad sold by each of the defendants, as well as the Kangaroo Transport Pad sold by Cygnus Medical, infringes EndoChoice-s -688 patent. The Complaint seeks damages as a result of the defendants- infringement of the -688 patent, as well as a preliminary and a permanent injunction against any further infringement of the -688 patent.
EndoChoice-s proprietary CinchPad® combines an absorbent pad and impermeable membrane, protecting the work surface and equipment during a gastrointestinal (GI) procedure. The drawstring feature enables staff to easily enclose the contaminated GI endoscope during transport.
