The Dangers of Excess Snow

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM — (Marketwire) — 02/19/12 — As snowy weather continues to engulf parts of the UK, Swinton is advising motorists to make sure they scrape all the excess snow and ice off their vehicles to ensure their car remains safe on the road.

The UK-s leading high street retailer of surveyed 1,000 online customers and found that 53% removed the bare minimum of snow off their windscreen; just enough to allow them some visibility.

Excess snow on a vehicle can become dislodged during a journey and can land on the front or rear windscreen possibly restricting the drivers view and causing a distraction to other motorists if snow suddenly falls in the path of their vehicle.

Swinton has put together some helpful tips:

Steve Chelton, Claims Manager at Swinton said, “It is vital that motorists remove all the ice and snow from their vehicles before they set off on a journey. Snow falling onto the front or rear windscreen can obstruct the view of the driver possibly leading to a nasty accident and resultant car insurance claim”.
