Beak is exhibiting and presenting at the international conference ?Fragile Earth: Geological Processes from Global to Local Scales, Associated Hazards & Resources?, which is organised by the Geological Society of America and the German Society for Geosciences (DGG). The GeoMunich 2011 will take place at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) on 4-7 September 2011 (http://www.geosociety.org/meetings/2011munich/).
Beak contributes to the Technical Session T8E: ?GIS and 3D-Modeling in Geosciences? on Monday, 5th September, between 2:00 and 4:25 p.m. with two presentations about the advangeo® prediction and 3D database software packages.
Sven Heico Etzold gives a presentation about ?Design and Development of the Countrywide Hydrogeological 3D Database of Saxony?. The paper discusses an innovative approach for storage of big 3-D data volumes that were created by different 3-D modelling packages. The front end software provides features for viewing and analysing 3-D data and management of 3 D ground water and solids. The approach is designed to store, manipulate and distribute geological 3-D data at a national level.
Andreas Knobloch gives a presentation about ?Prediction of rainfall-generated soil erosion processes with artificial neural networks and GIS?. The paper introduces the approach of neural network predictive modelling and its application to the analysis of erosion processes, such as landslides, soil erosion. The new advangeo® erosion prediction module provides a fast software support for data preparation and model calibration (elevation model analysis, combination with geological and soil data). The approach is able to create erosion predictive maps for large areas in an acceptable time with available data.
