Minister Clement Discusses the Importance of Job Creation with Local Entrepreneurs

BARRIE, ONTARIO — (Marketwire) — 01/12/12 — The Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board and Minister responsible for FedNor, today delivered a speech to business leaders at the Rotary Club of Barrie about the Government-s plans to return to a balanced budget.

“Budget 2012 will maintain our focus on jobs and economic growth while returning to fiscal balance in the medium term,” said Minister Clement during his address. “This balanced approach will support our efforts to achieve a sustainable and prosperous recovery, and preserve Canada-s economic advantage now and in the future.”

Almost 600,000 more Canadians are working today than when the recession ended, resulting in the strongest rate of employment growth among G-7 countries.

“The Government is putting its finances on a sustainable footing, achieving ongoing savings and transforming-modernizing-how it delivers programs and services,” said Minister Clement. “We want to deliver the right programs at the right cost, so we can focus on the priorities of Canadians.”

The Government has also launched pre-budget consultations in order to allow all Canadians to have their say. Submissions can be made by visiting .
