Nationwide Members to Help Shape Society-s Corporate Responsibility Report

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — (Marketwire) — 12/15/11 — Building Society is asking its members what they would like to see in its forthcoming Corporate Responsibility (CR) Report. Members will be able to provide feedback at Nationwide-s section on , to help shape the contents of its second standalone report.

The CR Report is designed to demonstrate how Nationwide-s social and environmental impact is being effectively managed within four main areas: finance, housing, community and the environment(1). The Report follows Nationwide-s first standalone CR Report – – – published in 2009. Since then, the CR Report has been included within Nationwide-s Annual Report and Accounts(2).

Members are being asked to contribute their views and suggestions to help members thinking include:

Jayanti Durai, Nationwide-s head of corporate responsibility, said: “Being a good corporate citizen is at the heart of the way we do business and, as a member owned organisation, we-d love to know what members want from the next Corporate Responsibility Report. What would they like to know about our targets, our partners and activities? Every year 1% of our pre-tax profit goes towards our Corporate Responsibility agenda, so it is important that we are communicating in the most effective way possible.”

Community This section provides case studies and information on how we make a difference in our local communities through meaningful charitable partnerships and employee volunteering.

Environment Finally, in the Environment section we demonstrate how we are reducing our carbon footprint and having a wider positive impact through our people and suppliers.

We don-t have shareholders, we are owned by you, our members, so you set our agenda. And we never forget that. Corporate Responsibility is central to the way we do business and as we move into the 2011 reporting period we would like to know how you feel we could improve upon, or change our approach to reporting.
