SEATTLE, WA — (Marketwire) — 09/20/11 — The materials and processing sector of the U.S. broad-market Russell 3000® Index reflected a return of (-1.6%) month-to-date through September 16th, underperforming the Russell 3000 Index (-0.3%) through September 16, 2011. Building materials, a sub-sector of the Russell 3000 Index-s materials and processing sector, has also reflected negative returns for September, posting a loss of (-5.4%) for the month-to-date.
Since April 2011, the building materials sub-sector of the Russell 3000 Index has continuously underperformed the broad market (as defined by the Russell 3000 Index), with the largest declines in July and August where the sub-sector reflected returns of (-7.9 %) and (-7.7%) respectively.
