As in previous years, Neschen AG is again sponsoring the nature photography festival “Horizonte Zingst” (25 May to 2 June) in 2013. As a premium partner, the Bückeburg coating specialist is supplying the digital print media and protective laminates for the open-air installations. The Neschen experts are also supporting the event with their extensive know-how and consulting services.
This year, the picture show has been given the theme “be careful”. Using magnificent photos in XXL format, the exhibition aims to sensitise visitors to the protection of nature and the environment. The central message is that we should interact responsibly with our wonderful nature.
        Giants of the Seas
The organisers of the Horizonte Zingst 2013 are presenting underwater shots of whales right next to the sea. The giant marine mammals were photographed by well-known photographers such as Thomas P. Peschak, Flip Nicklin or Brian Skerry. Under the heading “Giants of the Seas”, the National Geographic exhibition seeks to draw attention to the international protection of species. The giant three-by-three-metre fine-art prints can be seen on the beach at the Baltic Sea resort of Zingst near the pier.
        Elephants – Survival in XXL-format
Another open-air installation at the festival shows a herd of elephants along the Jordanstraße road. Visitors are thus accompanied on their way to the art gallery hotel “Vier Jahreszeiten” by life-size elephants. The photographer and film maker Klaus Reisinger, who lives in Paris, created these impressive documents. This part of the picture exhibition also aims to call attention to the threat to the animal world.
“The number-one attraction of the Horizonte Zingst nature photography festival has always been our open-air photo exhibitions,” said curator Klaus Tiedge. “The size alone of the photographs is really impressive. Then there is the choice of motives which goes far beyond purely aesthetic aspects.”
It is especially the location of the exhibition that attracts attention, in the open air and right next to the beach. As the exhibits are exposed to extreme weather conditions there, the digital prints need to meet very high quality requirements. They are therefore protected with the Neschen laminate “filmolux performance matt”. This high-performance film provides a strong UV protection and an outdoor life span of up to five years. The lamination with the Neschen protective films also give the exhibits an appealing surface finish and a mechanical protection.
The digital print medium used is “solvoprint easy 80 GSP removable”. This self-adhesive, white glossy PVC film gives a high colour brilliance and photo-realistic print quality. The printing was carried out with weatherproof inks, that is UV and waterproof inks, on an Epson SureColor Inkjet printer.
“After the event, the removable film can be peeled away from the background without leaving a residue thanks to the semi- permanent, environmentally-friendly water-based adhesive,” explained Frank Seemann, Manager of Marketing & Communications at Neschen AG in Bückeburg. “The Dibond sandwich plates used for the exhibition can then be re-used for the next event without any problems.”

Peschak, who has won numerous awards for his underwater shots, Flip Nicklin, who has been diving with whales for National Geographic for decades or Brian Skerry, an experienced diver and animal photographer.
